TEHRAN (Asremrooz): In a phone call with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, Brahimi emphasized negotiations with Iran for settlement of Syrian clashes, as described Iran's role in settlement of regional issues as 'very important and constructive.'
He also called for Iran's participation in the Syrian Geneva II conference.
Zarif, for his part, stressed Iran's willingness for close and influential cooperation with the UN on Syria, as expressing deep concerns over Egyptian crisis.
Zarif also urged cessation of bloodshed and clashes in Egypt and respect for legitimate demands of Egyptian people through adopting a peaceful solution to the crisis.
Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011 with organized attacks by well-armed gangs against the Syrian police, border guards, statesmen, army and civilians being reported across the country.
Thousands of people have been killed since terrorist and armed groups turned protest rallies into armed clashes.
The government blames outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorist groups for the deaths, stressing that the unrest is being orchestrated from abroad.
