Ahmed Shaheed not allowed to visit Iran: officials
Iranian officials have said that Tehran will not allow Ahmed Shaheed, the UN Special Rapporteur on the Human Rights Situation in Iran, to visit the country due to his biased reports.

TEHRAN (Asremrooz):Reportedly, Ahmed Shaheed has recently written two letters to the Iranian government requesting permission to visit Iran.
Mohammad Javad Larijani, secretary general of Iran’s High Council for Human Rights, told the Mehr News Agency on Tuesday that Shaheed’s request should not be taken seriously.
“I believe that the request is not serious. We have repeatedly said that Iran welcomes all rapporteurs, but I should say that he does not intend to be a rapporteur and is seeking to be an inspector,” Larijani said.
“I believe that in view of the measures taken by Ahmed Shaheed and the show of interviews launched by him, he is more of an actor than a rapporteur,” he added.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Araqchi also said at his regular press briefing on Tuesday that the Islamic Republic does not regard Ahmed Shaheed as a fair rapporteur.
“He has not acted fairly and has played the role of the opposition, and his measures have been outside the purview of a UN rapporteur,” he said, adding, “The ground is not prepared for his presence in Iran until this approach is modified.”
