TEHRAN (Asremrooz):He made the remarks in the 11th international transport and connections meeting held in Istanbul and was attended by Iran, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Tunisia, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Czech, Spain and Moldavia. The meeting closed on Saturday.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran which has joined international conventions and organizations and possesses 600 international goods transport companies can meet demands of the global market," Afandizadeh said.
Over 820,000 Iranian and foreign trucks have moved across Iranian boundaries and 12 million tons of goods were transferred through Iranian roads and railroads in 2012, he said, adding the country plans to boost goods transit up to 50 million tons a year.
He further highlighted Iran's geographical situation and said many international corridors and paths facilitating transit and trade connection between Asia and Europe are passing Iranian territories.
