TEHRAN (Asremrooz): Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks during a meeting with Sultan Qaboos bin Said of Oman in Tehran on Monday.

The Leader said, “The Zionist regime, which enjoys the complete support of the United States, is a permanent threat to the region.

“The corrupt Zionist regime, which has a highly dangerous huge arsenal of weapons of mass destruction, is a serious threat to the region.”

“The region needs security for all the people. And this goal will be achieved only through the effective prohibition of weapons of mass destruction,” he stated.

He also said that the region is currently faced with a crisis, adding that intervention by extra-regional powers is the main reason behind the current situation in the region.

Unfortunately, a takfiri group has been formed with the support of certain countries in the region which is fighting against all Muslim groups, but its supporters should be aware that “this fire” will also affect them.

Takfiris are people who believe they are the only true Muslims and everyone else is an unbeliever.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Khamenei described Oman as a true friend of the Islamic Republic of Iran, saying that the two countries can expand their relations in various areas, particularly the gas sector.

In addition, he said that the current critical situation in the region necessitates increased cooperation between Tehran and Muscat.

Sultan Qaboos confirmed that the region is currently in a critical situation and said that the crisis can be resolved only through taking account of the interests of people and increased cooperation between the countries in the region.

The sultan of Oman also said that Iran and Oman have a friendly relationship given cultural and historical affinities they have.
