TEHRAN (Asremrooz): Speaking to Tasnim, Mehdi Sanaei provided comments on the future foreign policy of Iran and said "The moderation government’s foreign policy discourse is on one hand adherent to the ideals and values of the Islamic Revolution, and on the other tries to work realistically, where it will set for itself as a principle to reduce threats and boost opportunities on the international stage.”

He asserted "The moderation discourse says that one must not bring about too much demands with an idealistic, value-oriented foreign policy; rather one must separate an idealistic policy and a taxing one. Therefore, a country such as Iran must follow an idealistic foreign policy, but the important fact is that it has to act realistically, keeping with the interaction principle to reduce the number of enemies and gain friends on the diplomatic stage.”

Sanaei stated that the country faces problems in 3 areas. "One of these areas is mutual relations. Right now we have problems with countries such as Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Turkey. Also we have disagreements with big regional countries regarding the regional concerns,” he said

Sanaei added "It is a pity that on the international level also we have to deal with sanctions and the Security Council. The Irano-phobia problem has grown much, too. So we have to start work at all these levels, so the coming administration’s top priority must be to reduce problems with neighbor countries to zero.”

He believed that the future administration must strengthen relations with Arab countries and added "Under current circumstances sectarianism and division, major US objectives for the region, have grown large and the coming administration must have a plan for the matter.”

He further said that the future administration is to reduce the intensity of Irano-phobia, present a decent image of Iran, and build trust on the international level.
