TEHRAN (Asremrooz):In a telephone conversation on Sunday, Jahangiri renewed Tehran’s determination to fully support Damascus, and voiced the new Iranian administration’s steadfastness to enhance cooperation with the Arab country on political and economic scenes.

“Tehran will keep supporting the axis of resistance, particularly Syria,” the Iranian official stated.

Halqi, for his part, praised Iran’s unwavering support for the Syrian nation, especially in political and economic fields, and expressed hope that Syria will succeed to weather the ongoing crisis and will “celebrate its ultimate victory”.

Several Iranian officials have repeatedly voiced Tehran’s support for Syria and warned the US against a military offensive on Damascus.

These warnings come as US President Barack Obama is trying to convince Congress to authorize military action in Syria.

Obama asked Congress to vote on the use of force after it became clear he would not win UN Security Council sanction given Russian opposition, after parliament in Britain voted against taking part, and as most US people are opposed to another military involvement that could have unpredictable outcomes.
