Shirazi was born in Kaboud Vonage, Iran on 13 June 1944. His father being a non-commissioned officer in the Army motivated him to join and in 1964 he joined as a cadet. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Artillery and in 1974 he was sent to the United States for further military education.

When he returned to his homeland Iran he showed opposition to the policies of the Pahlavi government and participated in some street demonstrations. He then joined the opposition movement against the Pahlavi government. As a result, he was dismissed from his military commission and jailed by the authorities.
Following the 1979 revolution, he served in the Iranian army and was able to demonstrate his tremendous military abilities during the Iran-Iraq war on a number of occasions. He was awarded the rank of Lieutenant General of the Iranian armed forces, and universally recognized as one of the most gifted military minds of his generation.

At night I went to Kermanshah by a Falcon aircraft,I observed it closely and realized that the enemy was advancing. The atmosphere was in such distress that people had come out of the house frantically. On the other hand, Behistun in Kermanshah road transportation was full of cars that were waiting, traffic was heavy.
Accordingly, we were moving to Taq-e Bostan by a tactical helicopter from the airport to one of the camps housed Iranian Revolutionary Guards.
It was Tir 4th midnight and we could not find out the nature of enemies. I want to the site at 5.all be prepared, after I explained the situation , emphasized that it is emergency. We do not have a choice and Kobra helicopter must be prepared. At first I moved by a 214 helicopter for precise identification and co-ordination of positions. Therefore we started the first campaign against the invading forces and hypocrites.
The next morning the operation was begun by Ya Ali code.A hell was created for Saddam’s companions that it was not the time for regrets.The road soon became filled with burning weapon.
Groups of people and some of the Revolutionary Guards Corps, which had come from the South West, came into operation as well as havaniruz. The way was had been closed and they could not go back. Some escaped to villages and some them suicide.
Thousands of soldiers was killed in this operation. The bodies of boys and girls who had very unfair behaviors with nation were left on the ground. Those who helped enemies when their country was alone.
I concluded that Allah loves Islam soldiers and our revolution so he solves our problems everywhere.
Evidence and documents indicate that the hypocrites had begun to move his victory with high confidence. Approximately all the top people in the organization were involved in the attack. Hypocrites participating in the operation have some personal objects including passport, their friend’s telephone numbers, family photo because they believed that they would not face by Islam soldiers and they would be successful definitely.
