Iran’s Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian announced that the country’s private sector has shown interest to contribute to development projects, specially dam construction, and it will construct its first dam in the current Iranian year (started on March 21).

TEHRAN (Asremrooz):"The first dam with the investment of the private sector will be constructed in the current year … in Kerman province,” Chitchian said on Tuesday.

He underlined that the presence of Iranian private companies in water projects has been facilitated.

“The presence of private sector for investment in the water sector results in attraction of new financial resources to the water and power industry and helps boost the productivity of the sector,” the Iranian energy minister said.

Iran is a leading country in dam construction and many countries, including Sri Lanka, Syria, and Tajikistan as well as several African states, have entered either dam construction or consultation projects with Tehran.
