Iranian ports capacity to hit 210 million tons by 2015

Managing Director of Iran's Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) Ataollah Sadr said the loading and unloading capacity of the country's ports would reach 210 million tons by early 2015.


TEHRAN (Asremrooz):"The trade capacity of the country's ports has hit 184 million tons over the last 8 years," Sadr said, adding, "There are 11 main and trade ports across the country whose loading and unloading capacity has totaled 184 million tons by early 2013."

Sadr also added the ports loading and unloading capacity of the ports would hit 210 million tons by the end of the fifth development plan (early 2015), while the amount hits 186 million tons for the time being.

Deputy of Iranian Road and Urban Development Minister also added the transit capacity of Iranian ports surpassed 20 million tons annually which should be increased to 50 million tons.
