Zihijjah 7th is anniversary of martyrdom of Imam Muhammad Baqer.

TEHRAN (Asremrooz): Zihijjah 7th is anniversary of martyrdom of Imam Muhammad Baqer.
Muhammad al-Baqir was born on the 1st of the month of Rajab, 57th Hijra, in the city of Medina. Because of his resemblance to his great-grandfather he was named Muhammad, because of it that he analyzed the knowledge and made manifest its secrets he became known with the title of al-Baqir. Imam Muhammad al-Baqir was awarded the title Baqir al-'Ulum "Revealer of Knowledge" because of his ample religious and judicial knowledge and his enthusiasm to teach others
His titles are Shaker, Hadi and Saber that they indicate his characteristic. He had only one kunya. It was Abu Ja‘far His father was the previous Imām, ‘Alī ibn Ḥusayn, His father was the Lord of the prostrators (in worship) and ornament of the worshipers and his mother was Fatimah bint al-Hasan. As for his mother, she was a pure chaste woman. She was Fatima, the daughter of Imam al-Hasan, the Lord of the youth of Heaven.
Imam Mohammed al-Baqir (peace be upon him) was born in Medina, on the third day of the month of Safar, in the year 56 A. H. It was said (that he was) on Friday, during the early days of the month of Rajab. He was born three years before his grandfather, Imam Husain, peace be on him, was killed.
The Imam, peace be on him, resided in Medina throughout his life. He did not leave it for another city. In it, he was the first teacher and great pioneer for scientific cultural movements. He used the Prophetic Mosque as school for him. There he gave his lectures to his students. In his life of respectable and scholarly retirement at Madina, the Imam was frequently called upon to explain particular teachings in regard to Imamat. A synopsis of his teaching in the Ma’athirul-Baqir is given in Cannon Sell’s Ithna Ashariya, an interesting part of which may well be quoted, as it shows the emphasis at this early period on the intellectual and spiritual character of the Imamat. While in Medinah Imam Muhammed al-Baqir (peace be upon him) continued with the progress of the schools of theology opened up on his advice and with the support of the companions of Ahlulbayt. It is noted by many historians that until the death of The 5th Imam (peace be upon him) there were 25000 students in these schools learning Fiqh, Theology and Islamic science. It was at this time that 400 books of Hadith were compiled by the students of these schools under the guidance of Imam Muhammad al-Baqir(peace be upon him).
These are some of his attitudes that are full of mercy, clemency, and self- denial. Indeed the morals of the members of the House (ahl al-Bayt), peace be on him, are a school that is based on honor, nobility, and on everything through which man becomes high.
The historians have unanimously agreed that the Imam, peace be on him, treated kindly those who mistreated him. He forgave them and bestowed liberally upon them to uproot from them aggression against others. The following are some of his attitudes towards them: he slaughtered every day a ewe. He cooked the ewe and divided it among the poor and the deprived.
Martyrdom
The Ummayad Caliph Hisham ibn Abdul Malik was not happy with the progress our 5th Imam was making in reaching out to the people of not only Madinah but throughout the Muslim Lands. This spiritual influence would change into political influence and this would jeopardize the Caliphs own position as head of the state. The more the Ummayad Government learnt about Imam’s prestige and popularity, the more intolerable his existence became. At last they resorted to the same soundless weapon, poison which used to be applied by the cunning monarchs quite often to eliminate their opponents or suspects. A saddle was presented to the Imam in which poison was applied most skillfully. When he mounted on it the poison affected his whole body. After few days in pain the Imam expired on 7th of Zilhijja 114 Hijri.
Some saying of Imam Muhammad- Al- BAqer
1. Imam said, "Our followers are of three kinds, one who follows us but depends on others, one who is like a glass involved in his own reflections, but the best are those who are like gold, the more they suffer the more they shine.
2. I admonish you regarding five things; if you are wronged, do not commit wrong doing to others, if you are betrayed, do not betray anyone, if you are called a liar, do not be furious, if you are praised, do not be jubilant, if you are criticized do not fret and think of what is said in criticism, if you find in yourself what is criticized about you, then you are falling down in the eyes of God; when you are furious about the truth, it is much greater calamity then your falling down in the eyes of the people. And if you are opposite of what is said (in criticism) about you, then it is a merit you acquired without having to tire yourself in obtaining it.”
3. To lie is from the desolation and depravity of faith.
4. The faithful does not become coward, greedy and miser.
5. God is the friend of modest, tolerant and forbearing person.
6. The scholar whose existence is fruitful and useful his worth is more than seventy thousand silly, witless ascetics (worshipers).
7. God does not like the scurrilous.
8. Avoid languidness (extenuation) because it is the key to every indecency and ruins and spoils the religion and the world (worldly affairs) of man.
9. Whosoever commits excesses over the servants of God, will not be from our Shias.
10. Avoid envying and being jealous of each other keep away from selfishness (egotism), do not adopt cruelty, be vigilant and watchful about your prayers, be the friend of oppressed ones.
11. Whoever tries to perform the errands and works of the Muslims and eases their difficulties is like the Muslim martyr who might have martyred in the battle of Bader and Uhud
12. Imam Muhammad Baqir (AS) says that Imam Ali once said: There were two things in this world, which softened the Wrath of Allah and prevented its descent upon man: One has been taken away from you; hold the other steadfastly. The one which has been taken away from men is the Holy Prophet and the one which is still left with them and which they must hold steadfastly is repentance and atonement for sins because Allah at one place in the Holy Book addressed the Holy Prophet and said Allah would not punish them while you were among them nor while they were asking for forgiveness.
13. Indeed if you are good in teaching the people and do not show pride towards them, then Allah will increase you from His favor. However if you prevent them from learning your knowledge, then it is incumbent upon Allah, the Great and Almighty, to deprive you of knowledge and its splendor and to drop your position from the hearts of people."
14. Whoever recites the Holy Qur'an while standing in prayer, Allah Almighty will bestow a hundred blessings for every letter; whoever recites it while sitting in prayer, Allah will reward with fifty blessings for every letter; whoever recites the Qur'an outside of prayer, Allah will grant ten blessings for each letter.
15. Remember your previous sins with severe repentance and more seeking forgiveness.
16. One who disobeys Allah has no knowledge of him.
17. The scholar who derives benefit from his knowledge is better than 70,000 devotees.
